Congratulations to our September Photographer of the Month, Ken Picazio, for his photo "Sparktackular".
September Program Night Meeting - Light Painting
Our monthly 'Program Night" meeting is Tuesday September 25th (4th Tuesday of the Month). Our program will be devoted to Light Painting. We will be providing opportunities for our members and guests to experiment with light painting indoors and weather permitting ourdoors. Participation is encouraged. Here is what you will need if you want to participate "hands-on".
- Camera with wide angle zoom or normal lens
- Tripod (if you don't have one we will share)
- A remote release or cable release would be a plus
- It is not necessary but it is better to wear dark clothing
- Be familiar with your camera's long exposure and manual focus
Lightpaintingbrushes.com has some great tutorials on their website that might be beneficial to review before the meeting.
Doors open early at 7pm for snacks and socializing with guests and members. Program will start at 7:30pm. Hope everyone has been working on getting those awesome shots.
We are currently meeting at the Cockrell Hall of Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church, 17503 El Camino Real, Houston, TX 77058.
Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk - Sat., October 6th - 5:45pm-8pm
Kelly Myers will be leading our Kelby Photowalk this year in Galveston. Come join us for Photo fun on The Strand at Night! We will all meet at Saengerfest Park on The Strand and will shoot on The Strand as well as on other adjacent streets. After the walk, we will meet up at The Hubcap Grill to review the walk and for socializing. Sunset will be around 7pm so you might want to bring a tripod for low light exposures. Subject matter on the streets includes Architecture. people, photo journalism, low light shots and more. Should be lots of fun.
You can register for the photowalk and get further information at the following website:
Local Calendar of Events Spreadsheet
For anyone that might be interested, we have put together a list of upcoming non-BAPC events that could be good photographic opportunities. Also in the list are simply some good places to go to take photos that you may not have thought of. When that "free day off" comes up on your calendar and you want to take photos then take a look at this list - something may pique your interest. We will hopefully try to turn a few of these places into an upcoming field trip
This link is a PDF file and will be left here temporarily until I can put it in a better place. I will also update it when I get new information. The website links on this list should work but click at your own risk.
