March
Just a reminder that we have a great trip planned for Saturday. We will leave from the Barnes & Noble parking lot on Bay Area Blvd at 7:00 AM. We will meet next to the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark on 103 Sabine Street, just west of downtown. We will have a number of great subjects:
Babes on Boards - the skatepark is conducting an event at the park for female skaters only. They will also have 2 famous(!) skaters there performing. I will confirm that photographers are welcome. Here is a link http://www.houstontx.gov/parks/lee-joepark.html.
City skyline - this is a perfect location for shots of the downtown skyline. Several very good, unobstructed viewing positions. By the way, if you want to be there for sunrise (before me) the official sunrise is about 7:15AM.
Downtown Bridges - about 10 bridges cross over the bayou. Dozens of gold images just waiting to be transferred to your sensors.
Centennial Park - lots of restored houses and park areas.
And of course, the usual Saturday morning personalities who are in the park.
Let me know if you plan to attend so I know how many donuts to bring!

Our next field trip is scheduled for March 21st to shoot the Houston skyline and the park area around Buffalo Bayou. There are a number of interesting subjects, including about 12 bridges viewed from the bayou level, the restored homes and grounds at Centennial Park, and the skateboard park made famous in Larry Patrick's great shots.
We will start near the skateboard park where we can get a relatively unobstructed view of the downtown skyline. One challenge will be that the buildings will be backlit. So this will be a creative or HDR exercise.
There are also many great spots to do portraits, if you are really bold.
Survivors will meet for an early lunch at the Downtown Aquarium or perhaps a more casual spot. Mark your calender. I will provide more details next week.
