April 18th - ***CANCELLED***
Our next field trip will be to Brazos Bend State Park on April 18th, 2009. Brazos Bend State Park is a very active wetlands area with an abundance of birds and alligators. It is comprised of 2 or 3 lakes surrounded by walking trails. There are also many swamp-like areas that are viewable from the trails. It is about an hour and a half drive from League City but worth the drive.
Here is a link to the Brazos Bend State Park website. There is a downloadable map of the trails with descriptive information along with a map of the facilities in the park.
Our tentative departure time will be around 7:00am from the Barnes & Noble parking lot on Bay Area Blvd. and I45, getting back around 2:00pm (plus or minus). There is an entry fee of $5.00 per person. Please let me know if you plan to attend at trips@bayareaphotoclub.org.
If you decide to drive there on your own or get separated from the group, here are the directions and a Mapquest map.

Update Wednesday April 15, 2009
Just a reminder that we are still on for a photo trip to Brazos Bend State Park on Saturday, April 18th. Those wishing to carpool or follow me should plan to meet at the Barnes & Noble parking lot across from
Baybrook Mall for a 7:00am departure. It is about a 1 hour and 15
minute drive to the park, so that would put us there just around 8:15.
As always, diehards looking for great sunrise shots might want to leave earlier. The park opens at 7:00AM.
Our meeting point in the park will be the parking lot at the '40 Acre Lake' just past the entrance to the park. Remember, there is a $5 charge per person for admission to the park.
Right now there is a scattered thundershow forecast, which will not deter me. If it gets worse, we might reconsider. I will send a final notice on Friday evening.
Let me know if you plan to come along. I will have a few maps, contact
numbers and donuts at the Barnes & Noble start point.
