May 9th
Our next field trip will be to Brazos Bend State Park on May 9th, 2009. Brazos Bend State Park is a very active wetlands area with an abundance of birds and alligators. It is comprised of 2 or 3 lakes surrounded by walking trails. There are also many swamp-like areas that are viewable from the trails. It is about an hour and a half drive from League City but worth the drive.
Here is a link to the Brazos Bend State Park website. There is a downloadable map of the trails with descriptive information along with a map of the facilities in the park.
Our departure time will be at 6:30am from the Barnes & Noble parking lot on Bay Area Blvd. and I45, getting back around 2:00pm (plus or minus). There is an entry fee of $5.00 per person. Please let me know if you plan to attend at trips@bayareaphotoclub.org.
If you decide to drive there on your own or get separated from the group, here are the directions and a Mapquest map. It would be a good idea to bring mosquito spray, maybe a small towel, backpack or pack of some kind and appropriate clothes for hiking the trails. You should consider a few bottled water too.
