Website Changes
I'm constantly looking for ways to update, refine and improve our website. I think it is an important part of our club. I think of it as a public relations department. This site is the doorway to our club and what we have to offer.
The website is also a canvas for showing off our work. Whether it's a 'Gold' won during Honors Night, an award received at a show outside of the club or a member's personal blog or website it allows our members to showcase what they have learned, and earned, while being a member of the club.
Please take your time navigating through the site. Some things are being moved around to streamline the page flow. Some are being moved as a test to see how well members respond to the changes. One example of this would be the new menu at the bottom of our banner. I am looking for feedback on this one. I would like to remove the navigation panel on the right side at some point and make room for more content on the page, whether it's more photos or more information. I am also moving some menu items under other links where they make more sense and flow better.
There is a lot of work and time involved in making these changes. Any time I change a menu item or link I have to check how it's linked to everything else. One change may require several rewrites of descriptive pages with corresponding links.
One thing I want to add to the site is a New Member link. This would contain things like an electronic membership form, basic information about how to get a login, signing up for Yahoo Groups email and a basic rundown on how the Honors program works. Any other items you think would be helpful to a new member please add that to the comment section of this story. You need to log in to leave a comment.
Well, that's enough for now. Just be aware of the changes to the site. Be patient and take the time to look around for that link that's no longer where you saw it last. Rest assured it's still here somewhere. Most likely it's been moved where it makes for a better fit with the overall flow of the site.
