February 13

Hello Fellow Club Members,

Many of you already know that I have volunteered to be the new Field Trip Coordinator. I will be taking over for Bob Dempsey who has moved up to vice president. Bob, thank you for an excellent 2009.  If I do half as well as you did the club will be in for an excellent 2010. I am seeking suggestions for field trips and would appreciate any help that you can give. Please send them to Trips@BayAreaPhotoClub.Org.

This month’s field trip will be this Saturday, February 13th in Galveston. Since the weather is so unpredictable this time of year the field trip is broken down to three parts.  Please feel free to join us during any or all of the phases. If you plan to attend please email me and we can exchange cell phone numbers.

Those wishing to car pool can meet at the Barnes and Noble parking lot on Bay Area Blvd (I will NOT be meeting there, so please do not wait for me).

06:00 Leave from the Barnes & Noble parking lot

The first part is taking sunrise pictures on Seawall Blvd; pictures can be taken from the seawall, beach or a rock finger pier that is near by.

06:30 Arrive Meeting Point at 16th Street and Seawall Blvd.

07:00 Approximate time of sunrise

The second part is meeting the club for breakfast.

07:30 Breakfast at Denny’s 1410 Seawall Blvd. across street.

The third part involves a little walk. I feel that it is best to park away from the center of the action so you can make an easy departure.

08:30 Move to parking area at Menard Park at 28th and Avenue Q

09:00 Battle of the Bands in Kempner Park

10:30 Move down 27th street to a suitable location for parade pictures:

11:00 Krewe d’Esprit Rosaire Parade

Parade Route - The parade will start at Kempner Park 27th and Ave N down 27th to Seawall and down the Seawall to 31st and down 31st street to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

There will be an after party with all types of cultural food booths, more bead throwing, music, and fun. This is a family oriented parade with lots of high stepping marching bands from Houston and Galveston with lots of beads, trinkets, and even some food throws.

Field Trip Coordinator
